The Good

Madison Bumgarner- The San Francisco Giants starting pitcher wowed the crowd with 12 strikeouts in a 6-3 victory over the Houston Astros. Bumgarner went 7.2 innings while giving up 2 runs off 3 hits to go along with those 12 strikeouts. Bumgarner improved to 8-4 on season with his 3rd straight victory.

Bryce Harper- The young star right fielder for the Washington Nationals went 3-4 in Tuesday’s victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Harper 3 hits including a 450 homer, 1 run, and 1 RBI. Harper had his first back to back 3 hit ball game of the season and is now hitting .307 on the season.

Joey Votto- After having his 15 game hit streak broken Sunday vs. the Tigers, Votto went 2-4 including a homer and 3 RBIs against the Cleveland Indians. Votto is looking to start up another hit streak as he is now hitting .355 on the season for the Reds.

Juan Rivera- The Dodgers 1st baseman went 2-4 with 4 RBIs including a late homer in the 8th inning to give the Dodgers a 5-2 victory over the Angles. This was Rivera’s 3rd homer on the season and his first since May 6th vs. the Cubs.

Johnny Cueto- The Red starting pitcher threw his first complete game since May 6 vs. the Pirates. Cueto went 9 innings giving up just 1 run off 6 hits while striking out 7 vs. the Indians. Cueto is now 7-3 with a 2.46 era on the season for the Cincinnati Reds.

The Bad

Jeremy Guthrie- After tying for his worst start of the season in his last outing, Guthrie struggled again vs. Oakland Tuesday night. Guthrie went just 5 innings while giving up 7 earned runs on 8 hits. Over his last 2 starts Guthrie’s era is a staggering 12.60.

Ryan Zimmerman- Despite all the Nationals success this season Zimmerman has continued to struggle into the month of June. Zimmerman went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts vs. the Houston Astros. Zimmerman is now hitting .239 on the season, 50 points lower than his career average.

Giancarlo Stanton- The Marlins young right fielder went 0-4 including 4 strikeouts in Tuesdays 2-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox. Stanton now has 15 strikeouts over his last 10 games. Stanton is now hitting .288 on the season for the Miami Marlins.

The Ugly

Jason Bay- The New York Mets outfielder is having a career low year batting just .188 on the season. Bay went 0-5 despite the rest of the team having 14 hits in Tuesdays victory over the Rays. Bay is now 0 for his last 16 over the last 4 games. Bay is hitting nearly 100 points lower this season than his career average of .275.

Philadelphia Phillies- The Phillies find themselves all alone in last place in the N.L. East division. The Phillies have lost 3 in a row and have won only 1 game over their past 10 games. The Phillies are 29-34 and are the only team in the N.L. East who are not above .500. The Phillies were supposed to have the all star pitching rotation of the decade yet here they are looking up at the Washington Nationals who are currently 10 games ahead of the Phillies in the division and are sitting comfortably in first place.
