LSU vs. Washington: The Ground Impound

LSU stomped Washington 41-3, with LSU QB Zach Mettenberger passing for 195 yards and a TD pass, and Alfred Blue rushing for over 100 yards. It was a fairly easy day for LSU QB Mettenberger, who spent most of the afternoon handing the ball off to LSU tailbacks, Alfred Blue, Kenny Hilliard, and Spencer Ware, the 3 backs accounted for 242 yards on the ground against the Washington defense.

Alabama vs. W. Kentucky: A.J. Mc”Airin”

After Alabama’s defense forced 4 turnovers Saturday against W. Kentucky, A.J. McCarron threw for 219 yards and 4TD passes as the Crimson Tide rolled through Western Kentucky 35-0. The defense also showed up for Alabama Saturday, forcing 3 fumbled and an interception from Deion Blue. Look to see these same kind of performances throughout the season from McCarron and the Alabama defense.

East Carolina vs. South Carolina: Gamecocks don’t miss a beat without Connor Shaw

South Carolina backup threw for 330 yards and 3 TD passes Saturday afternoon against the Pirates, breaking Shaw’s single game passing record of 313 yards. The passing game allowed Spurrier to use Marucs Lattimore sparingly, who only rushed for 40 yards on 13 carries. Unfortunately, Lattimore did not rush for a TD, which would have given him the record for most rushing TD’s in school history. This game wasn’t a close one, as South Carolina passed all over the Pirates, winning 48-10.

Texas A&M vs. Florida: There are Two Halves in Every Game, Texas A&M.

Last season Texas A&M gave up several victories late in the game, and this season proved to be no different, against the Florida Gators. After taking an early lead in the first half, from a stellar performance from redshirt A&M freshmen, Johny Manziel , who threw for 167 yards and ran for 60. During the first half, Manziel and the offense did whatever it is they wanted to do, but the second half proved a different story, after the Gator defense forced the Aggies to punt all of 6 offensive possessions. After leading 17-10 going into the half, the Aggies couldn’t hold on, losing to the Florida Gators 20-17.

Mississippi State vs. Auburn: Tyler Russel?

Mississippi state won its first SEC opener since 1999, lead by Miss. State QB Tyler Russel, who threw with accuracy and poise, for 222 yards and 3 TD passes Saturday against Auburn. It didn’t help Auburn much that QB Kiehl Frazier went 13-22 with 3 INT’s and 2 lost fumbles. LaDarius Perkins helped out Russel, rushing for 83 yards and a TD. Russel proved too much for a struggling 0-2 Auburn team, beating the Tigers 28-10.

Georgie St. vs. Tennessee: The Hunted

Tyler Hunter tied a single game record after catching 3 of Tyler Bray’s 4 TD passes Saturday against FBS opponent Georgia State. Hunter caught 8 passes for 146 yards, and Bray went 18-20 with 310 yards. Threw 2 game, Tyler Bray has thrown for 643 yards, and no INT’s, as he and Hunter appear to be at their peak. The two proved too much for Georgia State, as Tennessee went on to win 51-13.

UTEP vs. Ole Miss: Bo Knows

Bo Wallace’s first completion Saturday against UTEP was a 55 yard TD pass t Donte Moncrief. This pretty much set the tone for the game as Wallace passed for 174 yards and 3 TD passes as tailback Jeff Scott rushed for 113 yards on 13 carries. Ole Miss had this game locked from the beginning, as they beat UTEP 28-10.

Kentucky vs. Kent State: A Game of Bests

Both Maxwell Smith and Raymond Sanders had career bests Saturday, as Smith passed for 354 yards and 4 TD’s and Sanders rushed for 115 yards, as Kentucky beat Kent State 47-14.

Missouri vs. Georgia: Welcome to the Jungle, Missouri

Missouri welcomes Georgia Saturday, as Missouri opened its first ever SEC game against the Georgia Bulldogs. Unfortunately, the welcome was not pleasant as the Bulldogs went on to defeat the Tigers 41-20.

What was a very close match for the most part, the score being 20-17 with the Tigers having the lead for most of the game. Then the SEC caught up with Missouri, as Georgia put on 24 straight points and Missouri’s defense couldn’t find an answer to stop the Bulldog offense. Aaron Murray complete 22-35 passes for 242 yards and 3 TD’s. Todd Gurley rushed for 65 yards on 10 carries and scored a TD. Marlon Brown snagged 8 receptions for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns and Tavarres King caught 2 passes or 41 yards and a TD.

Missouri QB James Franklin went 25-41 with 269 yards, 2 TD’s and an interception for the Tigers.
