  1. Ryan Zimmerman– In the month of July Zimmerman is leading the N.L. in hits with 33 and is batting .413 during this month. Zimmerman has 8 doubles, 9 homers, 22 RBIs, .472 in base percentage, .850 slugging, and a 1.322 ops for the month making him the hottest hitter in the N.L.
  2. Andrew McCutchen- McCutchen has continued to impress and make noise for the N.L. MVP into the month of July. With 33 hits, 7 homers, and 15 RBIs McCutchen has an average of .464 for the month. McCutchen can still arguably be the best hitter right now.
  3. Paul Maholm- Maholm is the hottest pitcher going 4-0 giving up just 4 runs in 30 innings pitched. Maholm has a 1.20 ERA and a .97 WHIP for the month of July.
  4. Homer Bailey- Bailey has gone 4-0 in the month of July giving up just 6 runs in 30.2 innings pitched with a 1.76 ERA and .98 WHIP for the month of July.

Who’s Not

  1. Satrlin Castro- Castro is batting .208 in the month of July with just 15 hits in 73 at bats with 10 strikeouts. Castro has lowered his average by 18 points to .281 on the season.
  2. Hunter Pence- Pence is batting just .188 for the month of July with just 13 hits in 69 at bats including 18 strikeouts. Pence has lowered his average 18 points, to .261 during the month.
  3. Johan Santana- Santana has started 3 games in the month of July and is 0-3 with a 13.50 ERA. Santana has last just 12.2 innings while giving up 19 runs off 28 hits during the month.
  4. Jordan Lyles- Lyles is 0-3 in the month of July with a 7.54 ERA in just 22.2 innings. Lyles has given up 22 runs of 36 hits during the month and is now 2-7 on the season.

The Good

  1. Ryan Zimmerman- The Washington Nationals 3rd baseman is No.1 on the good list after hitting 2 homers on the 9-2 victory Sunday afternoon . Zimmerman went 3-5 adding a single to his two homers to go along with 3 runs scored, and 3 RBIs on the night. Zimmerman is starting to look like the regular player he’s been in the past getting his average up to .273, just 15 points below his career average. Zimmerman is on a 5 games hittings streak with 12 hits during that span.
  2. John Mayberry Jr.- The Philadelphia Phillies left fielder is No.2 on the list after slamming to homers in the Phillies 4-3. Maybery Jr. went 2-4 with the 2 homers including 2 RBIs on the night. Mayberry is just hitting .237 on the season, and this multi-homer game was the first of his career.
  3. Johnny Cueto- The Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher is No.3 after getting his 12th victory of the season. Cueto went 7 innings giving up 1 run off 8 hits while striking out 9. Cueto improved to 12-5 and is now 2nd in wins and is 2nd in ERA with a 2.23 ERA on the season. Cueto is one of the many in the early talk of Cy Young award.

The Bad

  1. Jair Jurrjens- The Braves starting pitcher makes No.1 on the bad list after his 2nd consecutive bad start. Jurrjen went 2.1 giving up 6 runs off 8 hits. In Jurrjens last two starts he has gone 5.2 innings giving up 14 runs and 18 hits with an ERA of 22.24. Jurrjens is now 3-4 with a 7.04 ERA on the season.
  2. Tyler Colvin- Although the Rockies right fielder made a spectacular catch in the field, his bat places him No.2 on the bad list. Colvin went 0-4 with 3 strikeouts in the 3-2 loss to the San Diego Padres. Colvin was 0-2 with 2 strikeouts with runners in scoring postion on the day. Colvin is now batting .288 on the season.
  3. Ramon Ramirez- The New York Mets relief pitcher, Ramon Ramirez, is No.3 on the bad list after yesterday’s outing. Ramirez went 1.2 innings giving up 5 runs  off 5 hits in the Mets 3-8 loss against the Washington Nationals. Ramirez now has a 4.58 ERA on the season and has given up 9 runs over his last 10 outings.

The Ugly

  1. The New York Mets- The Mets have lost 9 of their last 10 making them 8.5 games back for first place in the N.L. East. During this losing streak the Mets have given up 59 runs. Much of the teams problems have come from the relief staff. hopefully the pen can turn it around soon.

The Good

Ricky Nolasco

The Marlins starting pitcher went 7 cool innings to a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Nolasco went 7 innings giving up just 2 runs off 5 hits while striking out 6 on just 97 pitches. Nolasco improved his record to 7-6 on the year, and his first victory since June 2nd. Nolasco also improved his ERA to 4.62 on the season.

Ryan Zimmerman

The Washington Nationals 3rd baseman Ryan Zimmerman went 3-5 in the Nationals 8-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves. Zimmerman had a single, a double, a homer, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBIs on the night improving his batting average to .241 on the season. Zimmerman now has 14 hits including 4 doubles and 3 homers improving his average 23 points during that span. Zimmerman’s 3 RBIs gives him 35 on the season and helped Gio Gonzalez get his 11th victory on the year.

Freddie Freeman

Despite the 4-8 loss Freeman went 2-4 in Sunday’s game vs the Nationals. Freeman had a single, a homer, a run scored, and 3 of the 4 Braves RBIs. Freeman now has a 6 game hit streak with 10 hits during that span. Freeman has improved his average by 14 points to .266 on the season. Freeman looks to extend his hit streak against the Cubs, Monday night.

Tyler Wood

The Cubs starting pitcher, Tyler Wood, got his 3rd win of the season as the Cubs completed to sweep of the Houston Astros in a 3-0 victory Sunday afternoon. Tyler Wood went 7.2 scoreless innings while giving up just 3 hits and striking out 4. Wood has now won 3 straight games and has gone 14.2 innings without giving up a single run. During this span Wood has lowered his ERA 3.05 on the season with a 3-3 record.

Kip Wells

The Colorado Rockies starting pitcher got his vs 1 win of the season in just his 2nd start on the year. Wells went 7 inngings in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over the Padres, giving up 6 hits while striking out 2 on the day. This was Wells first stint back in the big leagues since he was with the Nationals in 2009. Wells has a 1.50 ERA on the season.

Giants Bats

In the San Francisco Giants 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds the Giants had 12 hits. 5 of the 6 players who had a hit had at least 2 including Ryan Theriot(2), Melky Cabrera(2), Buster Posey(3), and Brandon Belt(3). The Giants were 5-15 with runners in scoring positon. Beltran hit a walkoff double in the ninth to give the Giants their 45th victory on the season.

The Bad

Zack Cozart

The Cincinnati Reds leadoff hitter went a stagering 0-5 in the Reds 4-3 Sunday vs the Giants. To make matters worse Cozart saw just 13 pitches on the night, not something you want to see from you lead off hitter. Cozart is now hitting just .245 on the season.

Drew Stubbs

Drew Stubbs struggles continued Sunday as Stubbs went 0-4 with a strikeout in the Reds 3-4 loss vs the Giants. The Reds center fielder and 2nd hitter in the lineup is now 0-15 in his last 5 games. Stubbs has struke out 4 times and lowered his average by 16 points to .227.

Erik Bedard

The Pirates starting pitcher took the loss vs the St.Louis Cardinals 4-5. Bedard could only manage to go 4.2 innings while giving up 5 runs off 8 hits making this Bedard’s 3 loss in 4 outings. Bedard is now 4-9 on the season with an ERA of 4.57 and hasn’t gotten a victory since June 8th.

The Ugly

Houston Astros

The Houston Astros lost their season worse 6th straight road game against the Chicago Cubs Sunday afternoon. The Astros have now lost 4 in a row after being swept by the worse team in baseball, and kept into the running for worst team with a record of 32-47. The Astros are now just 2 games better then both the Padres and Rockies, and are 3 games better than the Cubs. Astros look to stop the streak tonight vs the Pirates.

The Good

Madison Bumgarner- The San Francisco Giants starting pitcher wowed the crowd with 12 strikeouts in a 6-3 victory over the Houston Astros. Bumgarner went 7.2 innings while giving up 2 runs off 3 hits to go along with those 12 strikeouts. Bumgarner improved to 8-4 on season with his 3rd straight victory.

Bryce Harper- The young star right fielder for the Washington Nationals went 3-4 in Tuesday’s victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Harper 3 hits including a 450 homer, 1 run, and 1 RBI. Harper had his first back to back 3 hit ball game of the season and is now hitting .307 on the season.

Joey Votto- After having his 15 game hit streak broken Sunday vs. the Tigers, Votto went 2-4 including a homer and 3 RBIs against the Cleveland Indians. Votto is looking to start up another hit streak as he is now hitting .355 on the season for the Reds.

Juan Rivera- The Dodgers 1st baseman went 2-4 with 4 RBIs including a late homer in the 8th inning to give the Dodgers a 5-2 victory over the Angles. This was Rivera’s 3rd homer on the season and his first since May 6th vs. the Cubs.

Johnny Cueto- The Red starting pitcher threw his first complete game since May 6 vs. the Pirates. Cueto went 9 innings giving up just 1 run off 6 hits while striking out 7 vs. the Indians. Cueto is now 7-3 with a 2.46 era on the season for the Cincinnati Reds.

The Bad

Jeremy Guthrie- After tying for his worst start of the season in his last outing, Guthrie struggled again vs. Oakland Tuesday night. Guthrie went just 5 innings while giving up 7 earned runs on 8 hits. Over his last 2 starts Guthrie’s era is a staggering 12.60.

Ryan Zimmerman- Despite all the Nationals success this season Zimmerman has continued to struggle into the month of June. Zimmerman went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts vs. the Houston Astros. Zimmerman is now hitting .239 on the season, 50 points lower than his career average.

Giancarlo Stanton- The Marlins young right fielder went 0-4 including 4 strikeouts in Tuesdays 2-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox. Stanton now has 15 strikeouts over his last 10 games. Stanton is now hitting .288 on the season for the Miami Marlins.

The Ugly

Jason Bay- The New York Mets outfielder is having a career low year batting just .188 on the season. Bay went 0-5 despite the rest of the team having 14 hits in Tuesdays victory over the Rays. Bay is now 0 for his last 16 over the last 4 games. Bay is hitting nearly 100 points lower this season than his career average of .275.

Philadelphia Phillies- The Phillies find themselves all alone in last place in the N.L. East division. The Phillies have lost 3 in a row and have won only 1 game over their past 10 games. The Phillies are 29-34 and are the only team in the N.L. East who are not above .500. The Phillies were supposed to have the all star pitching rotation of the decade yet here they are looking up at the Washington Nationals who are currently 10 games ahead of the Phillies in the division and are sitting comfortably in first place.
